IRAQ: Syriac–Assyrian political delegation meets Patriarch of Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel in Erbil to discuss challenges in Syria

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — As part of its visit to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), the delegation from the Coordination and Consultation Committee of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) Political Parties in Syria met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel in Erbil.

The delegation included Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Sanharib Barsom, Head of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) Gariel Moshe, and Official of the Assyrian Democratic Party (ADP) Ninos Esho. They extended their congratulations to the Patriarch on the third anniversary of his election as head of the Church.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation in Syria, with a particular focus on the Syriac (Aramean-Assyrian-Chaldean) people. The delegation also briefed the patriarch on the work and goals of the Coordination and Consultation Committee, highlighting its importance at this critical time and efforts to further its development.

The Patriarch expressed his solidarity with the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Syria, offering his blessings to the committee’s work amid the difficult circumstances they are currently facing.
