Syriac Orthodox Church in Södertälje, Sweden, nominates 40 deacons for ordination
SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden — During a Mass presided over by Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Sweden Archbishop Mor Dioscorus Benjamin Ataş, 40 deacons were nominated for ordination at the Church of Mor Tuma (St. Thomas) in Södertälje, Sweden.
The Mass was attended by the Metropolitan of Brazil Mor Titus Boulos Tuza, along with priests Klimis al-Shamani, Saliba al-Shamani, and Abd al-Ahad Qas Benyamin. A large congregation of believers, deacons, and deaconesses was also present.
The Church of Mor Tuma is supported by a Youth Committee, a Women’s Committee, and a Scouts Band. It is served by priests Klimis al-Shamani and Saliba al-Shamani.
In his sermon, Archbishop Ataş praised the church’s efforts and emphasized the importance of children in the Church and their proper religious upbringing.
