Passing of iconic singer Evin Agassi brings deep sorrow among Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian communities
ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The death of beloved Assyrian musical artist Evin Agassi has left a profound sense of loss among the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, sparking an outpouring of grief across the community.
Condolences from political and governmental bodies poured in following Agassi’s passing. The Bethnahrain Patriotic Union (Huyodo d-Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) issued a telegram expressing its sorrow and offering condolences to both the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community and the Agassi family.
“Agassi served the cause of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people through his art, which captured the pain and injustices faced by our people,” the HBA telegram stated.
A separate condolence message came from Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), who extended his sympathies to Agassi’s family and the entire Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community. Barzani highlighted Agassi’s enduring legacy, noting that his artistic contributions will be remembered for generations as they deeply resonated with his people’s culture and heritage.
