Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Ataş attends ordination of two bishops by Church of Sweden at Uppsala Cathedral

UPPSALA, Sweden — In a significant event held at Uppsala Cathedral, the Church of Sweden, led by Archbishop Martin Modéus, celebrated the ordination of two new bishops. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Sweden Archbishop Mor Dioscorus Benjamin Ataş, Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, representatives from various Church and civil organizations, and the governor of Uppsala County, Stefan Atval.

During the ceremony, Ulrika Fritzsson was ordained as the Bishop of the Diocese of Skara, and Teresia Derlin was ordained as the Bishop of the Diocese of Härnösand.

Archbishop Ataş expressed his gratitude to Archbishop Modéus for his invitation to the ordination and commended his ongoing efforts to serve the Church. He also extended his well-wishes to the newly ordained bishops, hoping for their success in their new roles.
