Syrian Democratic Council calls for end to Turkish occupation of Syria and regional intervention on International Day of Peace
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) of North and East Syria issued a statement addressing public opinion, emphasizing that peace in Syria cannot be achieved without ending the Turkish occupation and regional interventions.
“Peace will not be established in Syria unless the Turkish occupation and regional interference in Syrian territory come to an end,” the statement read. “Turkish aggression and violations only serve to fuel conflict and undermine the prospects for real peace.”
The SDC urged these external forces to reassess their policies, cease using force to impose their agendas, and instead engage in constructive dialogue that respects state sovereignty and the right of peoples to self-determination.
The statement further declared that true peace in Syria requires a negotiated political solution among the Syrian people, ensuring the rights of all ethnic groups, and promoting democracy, pluralism, and social justice.
The SDC called on all parties within Syria and the region to assume historical responsibility, work sincerely to end the cycle of violence, and achieve a comprehensive and just political solution. They stressed that the future of the region’s peoples and generations depends on the ability of the Syrian people to overcome disputes and build a more secure and just world for all.
