Church of Mor Shamoun Barsbai opened in  Merookeh village in northern Iraq

NAHLA, Iraq —  Archbishop of Hadiab Archdiocese of the Ancient Church of the East Mor Shimun Daniel presided over the opening event of Church of Mor Shamoun Barsbai in Merookeh village in the Nahla region in northern Iraq, on the Mor Shamoun Barsbai Feast, according to the rite of the Ancient Church of the East.

The church opening was attended by archbishops and priests from various churches of Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, in addition to government officials, representatives of local and international organizations, as well as a large crowd of Nahla residents and other regions.

In his sermon, the Archbishop of Hadiab recalled the life of Mor Shamoun Barsbai and his prominent role in the church, stressing the Mor Shamoun Barsbai courage and steadfastness in faith despite great challenges.

The Archbishop of Hadiab also praised the steadfastness of Nahla region residents over the years, indicating that this church is the fruit of their faith and patience.

Mor Shimun Daniel thanked everyone who contributed to the completion of this blessed project.
