After Education Authority preparations, academic year begins in North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Before the beginning of each academic year, the Education Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) equips schools, print textbooks and hand them over to students.
In comments to our news desk, Faisal al-Khidir, Deputy Co-Chair of the DAARNES Education Authority in the Gozarto (Jazira) Canton stated that the Authority has developed future plans for the new academic year in order to advance the educational situation.
Al-Khidir added that the Authority supervised the maintenance of 80% percent of the Canton’s schools, which are 1800 schools, in addition to preparing the teaching staff by conducting training courses to raise their educational standards.
He declared that there are more than 200,000 students in the Canton’s schools and the educational system has been developed.
Noha Kajo, Deputy Co-Chair of the DAARNES Education Authority in the Gozarto (Jazira) Canton stated to our news desk that the curricula of first, fourth, seventh and tenth grades has been changed, so that the student would be the focus of the educational process.
In related news, Michel Romy, General Official of Olaf Taw Association for the Syriac Language, stated that the Association has 4 branches, including Hasakah, Zalin (Qamishli), Qabre Hewore (Qahtaniyah) and Dayrik (Derik/ Malikiyah).
“Olaf Taw Association includes 48 teachers and 4500 students, 70 % of whom are Syriac and the rest are Arabs,” Romy added.
He pointed out that there are inspecting tours to schools to see the situation of teachers’ performance, in addition to training courses for teaching staff within the branches of the Association.
“Three closed training courses were also held at the Comrade Saeed Malke Academy,” Romy concluded.
