Bethnahrain Patriotic Union Party in Iraq elects a new president
ERBIL — The Bethnahrain Patriotic Union Party (Huyodo d-Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) issued a statement, indicating that its head Yusuf Yacoub Matti has resigned, as an expression of HBA adherence to the democratic spirit and HBA commitment to its bylaw.
The HBA former head Matti submitted a request to the HBA Executive Office to relieve him of his duties after 8 years of HBA presidency.
The Executive Office approved Matti request to resign.
The HBA Executive Office expressed its high appreciation for the leadership positions and struggle of former HBA head.
During the HBA meeting, the Executive Office unanimously voted for the HBA Deputy head Joseph Sliwa, as HBA new head.
Sliwa, the former HBA Deputy Head, is one of the influential political figures in Iraq. He was born in 1973, in Shaqlawa in northern Iraq.
