Administration of North and East Syria and Syrian Democratic Council condemn Turkish occupation of Rish Ayno and Tel Abyad on 5th anniversary of invasion
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On the 5th anniversary of the Turkish occupation of Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn) and Tel Abyad, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issued a joint statement condemning the occupation and urging international action.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, DAARNES accused Turkey of seizing Rish Ayno and Tel Abyad through backroom deals and international complicity. It emphasized that the continued occupation reflects a deliberate policy aimed at exterminating the diverse peoples of the region, a situation that must come to an end.
The statement called on the international community to take immediate action to halt the occupation, ensuring regional stability and security.
Similarly, the SDC called the occupation a painful chapter in Syria’s history. The SDC highlighted that Turkey’s ongoing presence in these areas is a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law.
Both organizations urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by ending the occupation and implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2254. The SDC stressed that enforcing the resolution is essential for achieving a genuine political transition that upholds peace, freedom, and dignity for all Syrian citizens.
