USUP distributes aid to Christians fleeing conflict in Lebanon amid regional tensions

BEIRUT — As the Middle East continues to be a battleground for regional conflicts, heavily impacting unarmed civilians, Lebanon, in particular, has been deeply affected, partly due to the presence of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah.

Hezbollah operates from villages and civilian areas in Lebanon to launch attacks on Israel, prompting retaliatory strikes on civilian locations, many of which are Christian communities.

In response, the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon has begun distributing aid to Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and other Christians fleeing the violence and bombardment. This aid is provided by Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) relief organizations such as the Syriac Cross and Stichting Schlomo.

The Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria and the European Syriac Union (ESU) have called for further assistance, urging humanitarian aid to be sent to Syriac people in Lebanon who are in desperate need of basic supplies and relief.
