Syrian Democratic Youth Council calls for political empowerment of youth in North and East Syria

HASAKAH, North and East Syria — The Syrian Democratic Youth Council (SDYC) issued a statement calling for the political empowerment of young people and highlighting their role in the democratic transition during a gathering at “4th April Park” in Hasakah, North and East Syria.

The event was attended by representatives of various youth movements and institutions from the region. A collective statement was read on behalf of all youth organizations, emphasizing the importance of engaging Syrian youth in politics to revitalize their spirit and energy.

Sobhi Malke, Co-Chair of the Syriac Progressive Youth Union (SPYU), told our news desk that the statement was the result of extensive efforts, dialogues, and meetings. He described it as an initiative and a workshop aimed at developing youth politically in the face of the region’s political instability and the ongoing absence of a political solution in Syria.

Malke added that the SPYU shares the same political aspirations and goals, and will work alongside youth from all ethnic communities in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) to ensure their voices are heard and to strengthen democratic ideals.
