Memorial event for Bethnahrin National Council martyrs held in Ticino, Switzerland

TICINO, Switzerland — A memorial evening honoring the martyrs of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) was held at the Syriac Club in Ticino, Switzerland.

The event, organized by MUB institutions in Ticino, began with a welcoming speech by MUB member Hana Hobil. This was followed by a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs, accompanied by a prayer led by Father Abrohom Bander, priest of Saint Jacob Church. The MUB statement, issued on the anniversary of the martyrs, was then read aloud.

Basim Hormuz, Official of the European Syriac Union (ESU) in Ticino, delivered a speech praising the sacrifice and heroism of the martyrs, reaffirming the commitment to continue the liberation struggle they began.

Teacher Hannibal recited two poems inspired by the occasion, reflecting on the sanctity and noble legacy of martyrdom among those who fight for freedom.

In a related tribute, the priest of Mor Aho Church in Örebro, Sweden, mentioned the MUB martyrs during a Mass, offering prayers in their memory.

“May the prayers of the martyrs be with us,” the priest concluded.
