Syriac hip-hop artist Antwan Afram breaks records with historic concert in Sweden

VÄSTERÅS, Sweden — Antwan Afram, a prominent Syriac hip-hop artist whose parents emigrated from Syria to Sweden, has become one of the country’s most renowned hip-hop figures.

Afram, who performs under the stage name Ant Wan, recently held a sold-out concert at the Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm, setting a new attendance record for hip-hop in Sweden. According to event organizers, an unprecedented 40,899 people attended the concert, surpassing the 2015 record of 40,557 set by pop icon Madonna at the same venue.

After the show, Afram expressed his gratitude to the crowd, saying, “You are not just fans, but my family.”

Afram began his musical journey at the age of 15. He was born in 1998 in the town of Råby, Västerås, while his family has roots in Syria.

Throughout his career, Afram has won several awards for his songs, including hits like “Malaika” and “Komplicerat,” which he both composed and performed.
