Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Ataş visits head of Macedonian Orthodox Church Archbishop Stefan Veljanovski in historic meeting of Christian unity
SKOPJE — Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia Stefan Veljanovski, warmly received Syriac Orthodox Patriarchal Vicar in Sweden Archbishop Mor Dioscorus Benjamin Ataş at the Patriarchal Residence in Skopje.
During the meeting, Archbishop Ataş congratulated Archbishop Veljanovski on the historic recognition of the Macedonian Orthodox Church’s autocephaly. He highlighted this milestone as a proud moment for the Macedonian people and the Christian community, emphasizing the positive relationship between the Macedonian and Syriac Orthodox Churches. Archbishop Ataş expressed hope that this meeting would further strengthen cooperation and unity within the Body of Christ.
As a gesture of brotherhood, Archbishop Ataş presented Archbishop Veljanovski with an icon and a hand cross, symbolizing their strong spiritual bond and fraternal relations.
