Syrian Democratic Forces General Commander Mazloum Abdi states SDF played no role in Ankara attack, calls for firm resistance to Turkish attacks in North and East Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Amid escalating Turkish attacks on North and East Syria targeting civilian and infrastructure facilities, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi addressed the region’s residents, urging them to stand firm and resist occupation efforts.

In a statement shared by the SDF Media Center, Abdi condemned the Turkish military operations, stating they lack any legitimate cause and are intended to destabilize the region and seize more territory. Abdi clarified that the SDF is not connected to the recent Ankara attack and refuted claims that anyone entered Turkey from North and East Syria. He reiterated that the SDF’s activities remain solely within Syrian territory, with no military actions taken or planned against the territory of Turkey.

Abdi also emphasized that, despite these provocations, the SDF is open to dialogue to resolve disputes, especially with Turkey. However, he warned that ongoing attacks undermine peace efforts, threatening further escalation if the aggression continues.
