Assyrian Church of the East Patriarch Mar Awa III Royel lays foundation stone for new church in Sydney, Australia

SYDNEY — Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel, presided over the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the Mar Yusuf Khananishu Church in Leppington, Sydney, Australia. The event featured a program including speeches from Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun and Leppington MP Nathan Hagarty, as well as Church hymns. Patriarch Mar Awa and Archbishop Mar Meelis Zaia also gave speeches.

This milestone marks significant progress for the Assyrian Church of the East’s Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand, and Lebanon. Parishioners joined in a full program of spiritual and social activities to celebrate this important step for the community.
