Thousands in Zalin, North and East Syria, protest Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, demand international action
ZALIN, North and East Syria — Thousands of residents in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, took to the streets in a mass demonstration condemning Turkish attacks on infrastructure and civilian facilities across the region.
During the demonstration, Co-Chair of the Gozarto (Jazira) Canton Executive Council Vivian Bahho Oussi expressed strong condemnation of Turkey’s assaults on essential services and infrastructure. She also criticized the international community’s silence and urged all people of North and East Syria to unite around the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES).
Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Council in Gozarto Hikmat Habib reaffirmed that the Turkish aggression aims to further its regional ambitions but vowed that “despite this, we will continue to build our democratic project.”
The DAARNES Executive Council reported over a thousand attacks by Turkey, resulting in 17 deaths and 65 injuries among civilians.
