Catholicos of Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church in India Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I passed away at 95
KOCHI, India — Catholicos of Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church in India Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I passed away at 95, at a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala on October 31, 2024, after prolonged illness.
The funeral mass at the church began at 10.30 a.m., on November 1, 2024.
On November 2, the funeral mass is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., while the concluding prayers will be held at 3:00 p.m.
The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II offered condolences on the passing away.
“May his soul rest in peace,” the Patriarch declared.
The European Syriac Union (ESU) also offered condolences via the social media.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people all over the world,” the ESU stated.
