Iraqi Coordination Framework leader calls for removal of dozens of illegal Turkish military bases in Iraq

BAGHDAD — In a press statement, Adi Abdul Hadi, leader of the Iraqi Coordination Framework, highlighted the presence of dozens of unauthorized Turkish military bases on Iraqi territory. Abdul Hadi stated that Turkey is following an expansionist policy within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), establishing around 75 military installations, including large bases equipped with airstrips and heavy artillery.

Abdul Hadi described these Turkish military sites, which extend deep into Iraq, as illegal and a violation of principles of good neighborliness. He noted that Baghdad has conveyed to Ankara through diplomatic channels that it does not tolerate this situation, emphasizing that these bases represent an infringement on Iraq’s sovereignty. He underscored the necessity of dismantling these bases and ending repeated incursions.
