Footage reveals Israeli Army’s destruction of border villages in Lebanon for creation of buffer zone
BEIRUT — Recently circulated footage shows that the Israeli Army has destroyed dozens of villages along the Lebanese border, reportedly to establish a buffer zone. Mohammed Shams al-Din, a researcher at the International Information Company, stated that around 29 villages and towns along a 120-km stretch, from Naqoura in the west to Shebaa in the east, were mostly demolished by Israeli forces. The destruction affected areas including Eta al-Shaab, Kafr Kila, Al-Adeisa, and Houla, totaling approximately 25,000 housing units.
Experts suggest that the Israeli Army’s aim is to eliminate vegetation and all signs of life in these areas to create a buffer zone that enhances security for settlements in northern Israel. There is speculation that reconstruction may be prohibited even after any potential ceasefire.
