Bethnahrin National Council hosts lecture in Augsburg, Germany, on Syriac–Assyrian national struggle and regional political developments
AUGSBURG, Germany — The Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) recently announced a series of seminars and lectures across various cities and countries to discuss the national struggle of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, share updates on actions within the homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) and Europe, and provide political analysis on significant developments in the Middle East.
In line with this initiative, the Assyrian Mesopotamian Association in Augsburg, Germany, organized a lecture at the Virgin Mary Church hall, drawing over 250 Syriac attendees. Among the speakers was Tuma Ҫelik, former Syriac Member of the Turkish Parliament and current MUB member. The event was moderated by priest of the Virgin Mary Church Father Daniel Turan, church council official Arjan Akgul, and Assyrian Mesopotamian Association representative Hazare Demir, alongside other officials.
Ҫelik addressed the audience on the MUB’s key efforts in the homeland, providing insight into the political landscape globally and regionally, and discussing the situation of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in their native regions. He highlighted ongoing challenges, including emigration, displacement, economic hardships, and the impact of regional conflicts. Ҫelik also emphasized the need for unity and solidarity among Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities, both in their homelands and abroad, and called for collaboration with international and local authorities to protect the rights of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and secure a brighter future for upcoming generations.
