Syriac John Haddad in Hume Municipality Council in Australia

MELBORNE, Australian — The Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people of Victoria in Australia sent congratulatory letters to Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) John Haddad, who won a seat in Hume Municipal Council in Melbourne, Australia.

 

Haddad, who has 40-year experience in serving the causes of Syriac people, received full support during the Victorian local elections.

 

The letters indicated that Haddad is a famous public figure among Syriac residents, and he does not hesitate to help the people in need.

 

Haddad is fluent in Syriac, with its eastern dialect, Arabic and Turkish.

 

In 2019, Haddad was honored by the Municipal Council, in recognition of his assistance to refugees and encouraging cultural rapprochement between the different peoples of the region.

 

The Municipal Council Elections were held at October, and the results will be officially announced on 11th November.

 

The newly-elected members will officially begin their work on 19th November.
