Syriac Catholic Church launches a new agricultural project in Baghdede, Iraq

BAGHDEDE, Iraq — With the aim of providing job opportunities for the youth, the Syriac Catholic Church in the Syriac town of Baghdede has launched a new agricultural project.

 

Father Amar Yako, the project Founder and Supervisor stated in a press statement that the church adopted his project idea, with the support of the FOCSIV Italian Organization to provide job opportunities for the town youth of various affiliations.

 

Yako added that this project provides job opportunities for 60 youth, which means a source of income for 60 families, noting that the benefit of the project is not only limited to its employees, but contributes to the provision of vegetables in the local market at reasonable prices, which helps low-income families to be sufficient, as well as provides a source of food for the people of the entire region.

 

Yako declared that they are seeking to develop the project in the future, through expanding the greenhouse project by planting new crops such as strawberries, as well as marketing the surplus.

 

Yako called on humanitarian organizations to support similar productive projects and contribute to the development of existing ones to encourage Baghdede residents to invest their land optimally and take advantage of modern technologies.
