European Syriac Union held a seminar in Bietigheim, Germany on Lebanon situation
BIETIGHEIM, Germany — Representatives of the European Syriac Union (ESU) held a seminar in hall of Mor Youhanna Church in Bietigheim, Germany.
The seminar began with a minute of silence in honor of souls of the martyrs of Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people.
The importance of such seminars was stressed due to their role in raising Syriac people awareness from the political point of view, as well as in familiarizing the Syriac people with impact on homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia).
After that, Yakub Mirza delivered a speech about the national actions and preparations that Syriac people should carry out, amid tensions in the Middle East, aa well as the impact of policies of regional and international powers on the peoples of the region.
Via Skype, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon Ibrahim Mrad spoke about the situation of Syriac people in the midst of political and military developments in Lebanon.
Mrad urged Syriac people in Europe to support the Syriac people in Lebanon, defend their rights and participate in Lebanon reconstruction.
He also stressed the strong relations between the USUP and Christian and Syriac Maronite political parties in Lebanon.
At the end of the seminar, the attendees were invited to express their opinions and inquiries about the seminar.
