Syriac Cultural Association participates in Literature Festival in Raqqa, North and East Syria
RAQQA, Syria — Under the slogan “Literature with Syrian Pens”, the Culture Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) held the 2nd Edition of Literature Festival in in Raqqa.
The festival included poem recitation and dialogue seminars, with the participation of Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian), Arab and Kurdish cultural figures and poets from different Syrian regions, in order to send a message to the world that North and East Syria has diversity within one geography.
The festival began with screening a film about culture, especially after the Syrian crisis in North and East Syria.
In comments to our news desk, Syriac Cultural Association Official Ibrahim Adamo stated that Syriac poets and writers participated in the festival, including Syriac poet Michel Filo, stressing the importance of this festival to introduce the cultural diversity in this region.
The Syriacs through this festival showcased their culture, art, opinions, customs and traditions to all ethnic components of the region. Co-Chair of the Culture Authority in North and East Syria Sarfaraz Sharif declared that this festival witnessed a wide participation of all Syrian cultural figures from all ethnic components. She pointed out that men and women writers from North and East Syria, who had a role in the cultural and literary advancement in the region, were honored.
“At the end of the festival, all winners will be honored,” she concluded.
