Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Holeb (Aleppo) Butros Kassis: Clergy is committed to remaining in Holeb, dioceses across Syria prepared to assist those seeking to leave

HOLEB, Syria — Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo (Holeb) Butros Kassis addressed a heartfelt message to his parish through Syriac Press, amidst the unfolding events in Holeb, Syria.

Archbishop Kassis reaffirmed his commitment to remain in Holeb alongside other clergy and those who have chosen to stay. He also expressed respect and understanding for those who decided to leave the city.

He urged his community to approach the situation with awareness, faith, and calmness, emphasizing the importance of unity during these challenging times.

The Archbishop assured parishioners that Syriac Orthodox dioceses across the country are prepared to assist those leaving Holeb.

Regarding worship services, Archbishop Kassis confirmed that Sunday Masses will continue as scheduled:

    • Old Syriac Neighborhood: 9:30 AM
    • Sulaymaniyah Neighborhood: 10:00 AM
    • New Syriac Neighborhood: 5:00 PM

He also highlighted the readiness of archdiocesan clinics to provide medical services to parishioners and pledged to sustain aid efforts as long as donations continue. Additionally, he announced a temporary suspension of all activities, concerts, and events.

The Archbishop encouraged his parishioners not to succumb to fear but to remain steadfast in their faith, expressing his commitment to keep them informed about ongoing developments, including school operations.
