Administration of North and East Syria calls for general mobilization in response to HTS and Turkish-proxy attacks on Syrian Democratic Forces

RAQQA, North and East Syria — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) issued a strong condemnation of recent attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) on Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions in northern Holeb (Aleppo) and Cafrin (Afrin).

In a statement delivered from its center in Raqqa, the Co-Chairship of the DAARNES Executive Council denounced the actions as part of Turkey’s broader plan to expand territorial control and destabilize the region.

“At the outset, we strongly condemn the attack launched by the Turkish state and its mercenaries on Syrian territory,” the statement read, highlighting the resistance of local populations in Holeb and Shahba. The Administration alleged that these attacks continue Turkey’s previous attempts to achieve its objectives through groups such as the Islamic State (ISIS), with the ultimate goal of reviving territorial ambitions linked to the “Milli Pact.”

The statement described the aggression as not only a threat to specific regions but to the entirety of Syria. It called for unity among all ethnic and cultural groups in North and East Syria, including Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldean), and Turkmen, to resist these incursions. The Administration emphasized the importance of rallying around the Syrian Democratic Forces to confront what it described as a blatant assault on Syrian sovereignty.

Declaring a phase of general mobilization, the Administration urged all institutions and citizens to remain on high alert. It also appealed to the international community to intervene, warning that the aggression could lead to severe humanitarian crises and revive forms of terrorism akin to those seen under ISIS.

“This aggression … represents a threat to Syria, a new form of ISIS terrorism that will have serious regional and global repercussions,” the statement concluded.

The plea underscores the region’s growing tensions and the urgent need for international mediation to prevent further escalation.
