Syriac Youth Union organizes St. Barbara’s Day celebration with displaced families in Lebanon
DAKWANA, Lebanon — With the support of Lions International and the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development, the Syriac Youth Union Association in Lebanon organized a celebration to mark St. Barbara’s Day, bringing joy to children from displaced Christian villages now residing in the Dakwana area.
The event took place in the courtyard of the Syriac Maronite Church of Our Lady of Salvation, in collaboration with parish priest Father Maron Shamoun and local church youth. Approximately 200 children and their families attended the festivities.
Entertainment was provided by the Diddley Duo Band, creating a lively atmosphere for the children. Following the performances, attendees enjoyed lunch, and gifts were distributed to the children.
Joseph Hajjar, a representative of the Syriac Youth Union Association, addressed the gathering, extending greetings to the children and their families. He expressed hopes for their safe return to their homes in the near future, highlighting the importance of community support during challenging times.
