Syriac Union Party official Robel Bahho hails fall of Syrian regime as historic victory, calls on Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans) to engage in political work

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Robel Bahho, a member of the General Council of the Syriac Union Party (SUP), described the fall of the authoritarian Syrian regime as a historic milestone for the Syrian people and, in particular, the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.

Speaking to our news desk, Bahho emphasized the SUP’s enduring struggle to secure the rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people since its establishment. He congratulated the Syrian people on the victory of the Syrian Revolution, which led to the downfall of the Assad regime that had oppressed the nation for decades.

“The current stage is extremely significant as it marks a transition from dictatorship to democracy,” Bahho said. He also extended his congratulations to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, urging them to participate actively in political and national efforts. Bahho called for a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria that ensures equality and recognizes the rights of all its ethnic components.

The fall of the authoritarian Syrian regime comes after decades of injustice and years of brutal conflict, which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions of Syrians both inside and outside the country.
