Administration of North and East Syria raises Free Syria flag over administrative buildings as symbol of unity

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Peoples’ Democratic Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) released a statement commemorating the fall of the authoritarian Syrian regime and announcing it will raise the flag of post-regime Syria over administration buildings in North and East Syria.

The Council declared that the end of the regime’s decades-long era of oppression, which subjected Syrians to injustice, marginalization, and exclusion, marks a historic victory for the will of the Syrian people. It emphasized that Syrians have every right to celebrate this significant achievement.

In light of this transformative moment, the Council announced that the Syrian independence flag — featuring green, white, and black horizontal bars and three red stars — will symbolize the new era. The flag, they noted, represents the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, and national unity.

As an integral part of Syrian geography and as a representation of the region’s diverse and authentic ethnic components, DAARNES decided to raise the independence flag across all councils, institutions, departments, and facilities within its jurisdiction.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to representing the aspirations of all Syrians and their ethnic components, while working to strengthen national unity within a democratic Syria founded on justice and equality for all.
