Bethnahrin Patriotic Union urges Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian youth to embrace national identity and political engagement

ANKAWA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo d-Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) in Iraq hosted a lecture titled “Youth Role in the Next Stage,” delivered by HBA member Ablahad Hanna Saka, aimed at motivating Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian youth to be more politically active.

The lecture emphasized the unique qualities and potential of youth, highlighting their pivotal role in navigating an evolving and changing world. Saka discussed the importance of leveraging their energy, technical skills, scientific knowledge, and physical capabilities to contribute to the advancement of their community.

Saka urged young people to embrace their national identity, remain committed to the land of their ancestors, and reject political dependency or self-interest that contradicts the collective demands and rights of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people.

He called for active participation in the political process, particularly in elections, and encouraged youth to capitalize on the ongoing political transformations in Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia) to safeguard their religious and national identity.

Saka also underscored the importance of preserving the Syriac national language and cultural heritage, asserting the responsibility of the youth as indigenous people to uphold and celebrate their unique legacy.

The event served as a rallying call for Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian youth to take a proactive role in shaping their community’s future while maintaining their heritage and national identity.
