EU Representation Office of Administration of North and East Syria hosts meeting in Brussels to discuss region’s future
BRUSSELS — The European Representation Office the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) hosted a meeting in Brussels to evaluate the situation in North and East Syria. The gathering brought together representatives of various political parties and organizations, including European Syriac Union (ESU) representative Issa Hanna and Co-Chair of the DAARNES Foreign Relations Commission.
In a statement to Suroyo TV, Hanna explained that the meeting took place at the DAARNES Representative Office in Brussels. The discussions aimed to unify the stance and vision of all active parties in North and East Syria ahead of dialogues with the Syrian transitional government. Hanna emphasized that the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, key participants in DAARNES, welcomed the overthrow of the authoritarian Syrian regime and the end of years of injustice, echoing the sentiments of other Syrian communities.
Hanna highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the transitional government’s approach to DAARNES. However, he stressed the determination of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to assert their role in Syria’s political process as an integral and historic community, rather than as a marginalized minority.
