Syriac Union Party in Hasakah, Syria discusses future of Syriac-Assyrian people, amid current political changes

HASAKAH — In comments to our news desk, a member of the Presidential Committee of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) Echoue Gouriye stated that the MUB and the Syriac Union Party (SUP) held a lecture in Hasakah, North and East Syria about the current political situation in Syria.

He added that the lecture was attended by political and social figures from the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, in addition to academics, intellectuals, priests and archbishops from various denominations in Hasakah.

Gouriye declared that the attendees discussed the concerns of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, amid the political changes that Syria is going through after the fall of the Syrian regime.

The next political stage was addressed, and the attendees’ questions about the current situation were answered.

“The attendees agreed on the importance of unity among all Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) parties, including churches, institutions and political parties, in order to unify demands and move forward in leading the next stage,” said Gouriye. “They also stressed the need for continuous efforts to establish the national, cultural and social rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community in the future.”
