ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel hosted Chaldean Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda in a meeting aimed at strengthening ties between the two Churches.

Discussions emphasized maintaining and enhancing relations, particularly in Erbil, and highlighted the importance of drafting a personal status law for Christians in Iraq to protect their rights and ensure unity.

The leaders also addressed the broader status of ecumenical relations between Christian Churches in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and Iraq as a whole, underlining the importance of collaboration and dialogue in fostering harmony among Christian communities.
