Bethnahrin National Council congratulates Christian people on Christmas and New Year
BETH NAHRIN — Under the slogan “Christ Principles Are Philosophy of Life for Humanity”, the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) issued a statement congratulating Christians in the world and Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people in particular on Christmas and New Year.
“While Christians around the world are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in hope of peace, the MUB indicated that Syriac people are struggling for resurrection to reach a free future at this stage. While tyrants fall one after the other in the Middle East, the policy of destruction and denial against Syriac peoples is also exposed. While the dark system of tyrants was fallen by the people’s resistance, the ground was prepared for our national identity to shine like the sun,” read the MUB statement.
The MUB pointed out that on 8 December, 2024, the MUB struggle to defend democratic values and human rights entered a new phase against the mentality of jihadist groups that were brought as an alternative to the 61-year-old Baathist authoritarian regime and 53 years of Assad family dictatorship.
“Therefore, our responsibility to defend the democratic system against those who impose their lifestyles on the historical, cultural and religious values of our people requires alliance with contemporary progressive forces,” the MUB added.
The statement declared that principles of Christ, such as equality, brotherhood, love, solidarity and respect, teach us to live a peaceful and free life.
“While one dictator is overthrown, falling under the rule of another dictatorship means the continuation of oppression and suffering,” the MUB added, noting that Turkey aims to export its racist and fascist system to the entire region by intervening in Iraq and Syria, which were emptied of Baathist tyranny. With this expansionist policy, Turkey imposes on the people neo-Ottomanism and a life outside the civilized world. However, at this stage, the racist, religious and fascist management methods of the dictators are coming to an end and their guardianship over the people is ending,” the MUB continued.
The MUB declared that the Syriac people are rising again in Bethnahrin (Mesopotamia) and in the Middle East with the philosophy and faith of Christ birth, and they will participate with their cultural wealth in the democratic system in the Middle East that will be established.
“Through the MUB participation in this change, the national identity of our people will be adequately and decisively represented. The birth of Christ guides us and gives us hope and strength. On Christmas and New Year, we congratulate the Christians of the world, our international friends, our people, our religious leaders, the families of our martyrs and our organizational structure. We also call on everyone to struggle together for our people to obtain their national status in Syria,” the MUB concluded.
