Syriac Cultural Association brings holiday joy with festive activities in Zalin and Tel Tamr
ZALIN and TEL TAMR, North and East Syria — As part of its annual tradition, the Syriac Cultural Association organized a series of festive activities to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. In Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, the Association held a vibrant event for children, featuring folk dances, entertaining competitions, games, and the distribution of gifts to bring joy to the young attendees.
Ruba al-Fraihat, the Association’s official in Zalin, expressed gratitude to the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development for supporting the event. She conveyed warm wishes to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community and all Christians, hoping the new year would usher in peace and prosperity.
In the town Khabur River Valley town of Tel Tamr, the Association celebrated Christmas at the Ashur School, where gifts were distributed to children in the presence of local residents and community members.
Maram Kammo, a member of the Association, highlighted the initiative’s goal of spreading happiness among children during this special season. Another administrator emphasized the importance of the Syriac Cultural Association’s diverse activities in preserving and promoting cultural and social traditions.
He encouraged community members to engage with the association’s various programs, which include singing, folklore, and cultural activities designed for both children and adults, ensuring that the Syriac heritage remains vibrant and celebrated.
