Bethnahrain Patriotic Union celebrates Christmas with community gatherings and festive programs
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — In a celebration of unity and joy, the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo d-Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) hosted a series of gatherings in the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniyah) to mark Christmas. The events brought together politicians, representatives of community institutions, and members of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community.
In a festive atmosphere, the celebrations took place on 26 December at the party’s political and executive offices, as well as its local headquarters in Baghdede. This year’s slogan, “Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, and goodwill to all,” reflected the spirit of the season.
Joseph Sliwa, head of the HBA, along with senior party officials, warmly greeted guests from 4 PM to 8 PM Samer Khal Shamon, a member of the party’s political bureau, extended heartfelt Christmas wishes to the Christian community and all Iraqis. He expressed hope that the holiday would bring peace and security to Iraq and the world.
The following day, the party welcomed additional visitors at its branch in Bartella. Simultaneously, the Beth Nahrain Women’s Organization (BNOW) hosted a festive program for children. The event featured a Santa Claus character distributing gifts and included games, competitions, and entertainment designed to bring joy to the children.
