Syriac Military Council reaffirms commitment to security on 12th anniversary of founding
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) issued a statement on the 12th anniversary of its establishment, reaffirming its commitment to security, resistance, and the protection of the region.
The MFS emphasized its unwavering resolve to ensure safety and stability in all areas of North and East Syria, despite the challenges and attempts to undermine the democratic project being built in North and East Syria, which strives for freedom, justice, and democracy for the region’s diverse communities.
The statement highlighted the MFS’s role since its inception in combating terrorist organizations, particularly the Islamic State (ISIS). The Council has actively pursued ISIS cells, secured prisons, and maintained oversight of camps housing thousands of the group’s affiliates and families.
In addition, the MFS has countered Turkish-backed proxy groups, which have escalated attacks on North and East Syria. These groups aim to harm residents, displace indigenous peoples, and create conditions for ISIS reactivation, the statement asserted.
Renewing its pledge to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and all communities of the region, the MFS vowed to continue following the path of its martyrs. Despite the difficult circumstances and pressures it faces, the Council remains dedicated to achieving security and peace for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and the entire region.
