The discussions focused on providing support to internally displaced persons and those forcibly uprooted from their homes, particularly those living in camps. Collaborative efforts in medical and service sectors were also highlighted as crucial for benefiting the region’s residents. Both sides agreed to strengthen their partnership and continue mutual cooperation in the future.
Supporting the Syriac Cross Organization
The delegation also visited the Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development, a vital organization offering free services to displaced families in the region. The group was warmly received by the organization’s director, Malik Hanna.
Key discussions revolved around coordinating efforts to supply medical equipment, medicines, and hygiene tools via Iraq. The US team reviewed the organization’s ongoing activities, work locations, and the significant challenges posed by resource limitations. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration, communication, and coordination to address the pressing needs of the local population effectively.
The visit represents a meaningful step in bolstering international support for humanitarian and development initiatives in North and East Syria, a region striving for recovery and stability after enduring years of conflict.
