IRAQ: Mosul unveils large panoramic mural celebrating Assyrian heritage

MOSUL, Iraq — The Municipality of Mosul announced the near completion of the largest panoramic mural in Iraq, a project highlighting the rich heritage of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian civilizations. The monumental artwork will adorn the walls of the Cultural Group Tunnel near Mosul University.

Spanning an extraordinary 5,000 square meters, the mural is set to be one of the largest of its kind in the country. It celebrates the grandeur of Assyrian heritage and Mosul’s historical importance in the Assyrian Empire. Featuring iconic symbols such as the “Winged Bull” and cuneiform inscriptions, the mural combines advanced painting and sculpting techniques to achieve intricate detail and vivid representation.

The mural is expected to draw visitors from across Iraq and beyond, invigorating tourism and fostering cultural appreciation. More than just an artwork, it serves as a visual chronicle of Mosul’s storied past and a testament to its resilience, celebrating a civilization that profoundly shaped the region.
