Administration of North and East Syria delegation engages with UK officials on Syrian political transition, stability, and inclusive governance
LONDON — A delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) held high-level talks with senior British officials in London to address the ongoing political transition in Syria and explore pathways to stability and inclusive governance.
The delegation, led by Co-Chair of the DAARNES Foreign Relations Commission Elham Ahmed and Co-Chair of the Relations Office for the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Hassan Mohamed Ali focused on post-Assad political dynamics and the urgent need for comprehensive dialogue about Syria’s future.
Discussions highlighted the escalating hostilities by Turkish-backed factions, particularly attacks near the Tishrin Dam, which pose severe humanitarian and environmental risks. The DAARNES delegation called for immediate measures to halt these actions, emphasizing their threat to regional stability.
The talks stressed the importance of ensuring inclusive representation at the forthcoming national conference. Special attention was given to advocating for the robust participation of women in shaping Syria’s future, recognizing their pivotal contributions to societal and political development.
British officials and the delegation affirmed the significance of preserving the DAARNES governance model as a foundation for stability in northeast Syria and beyond. The discussions underscored the role of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in maintaining security and proposed integrating the SDF into a unified national military structure for Syria’s future.
The meeting concluded with a joint appeal to the international community to back Syrian-led initiatives aimed at achieving a political resolution to the conflict. Both parties emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of all communities and uphold Syria’s rich religious and ethnic diversity.
These discussions represent a crucial step in building international support for DAARNES’s vision of a democratic, decentralized, and inclusive Syria.
