Administration of North and East Syria official calls for inclusive dialogue to find comprehensive political solution

ZALIN, North and East Syria — During an interview with Syria Press, Fener al-Keit, Deputy Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), underscored the urgency of inclusive dialogue among Syria’s key stakeholders to achieve a comprehensive resolution to the country’s prolonged crisis.

Al-Keit emphasized the importance of addressing the realities on the ground, warning that disregarding existing entities like DAARNES, major political parties, and military forces in North and East Syria would undermine efforts to find a viable solution.

He noted that while dialogue between DAARNES and the interim government in Daramsuq (Damascus) has not yet made significant progress, the potential for meaningful discussions remains.

Al-Keit praised recent statements by French and German foreign ministers advocating for a more inclusive Syrian government that represents all communities. He described these positions as encouraging but stressed that a lasting solution must stem from Syrian-led dialogue.

Highlighting Detainees and Missing Persons

On the critical issue of detainees and missing persons, al-Keit revealed that more than 150,000 Syrians remain unaccounted for in the prisons of the former regime, including many from North and East Syria. He pointed out that DAARNES has compiled comprehensive files documenting these cases and called for their inclusion in future discussions with the interim government and international organizations.

Collaboration on Public Services

Al-Keit also addressed the centralized control of public services by the former regime, reaffirming DAARNES’s willingness to explore new mechanisms for improving service delivery to citizens.

In his closing remarks, Al-Keit reiterated DAARNES’s commitment to Syrian-led dialogue and called on all parties to collaborate in reuniting Syria. He emphasized the importance of cooperation across eastern Syria, western Syria, and Turkish-occupied regions to end the suffering of the Syrian people.

These remarks come amid swift political changes in Syria and expectations for an upcoming national dialogue conference in Daramsuq. Al-Keit sees this as a pivotal moment to rebuild a democratic and inclusive Syria that reflects its diverse communities.
