U.S. State Department’s Syria Regional Platform Director Granger: U.S. supports Syrian-led political transition process in Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After the fall of the dictatorial regime of Bashar al-Assad, global efforts to determine the future of Syria continue.

In comments to North Press Agency, U.S. State Department’s Syria Regional Platform Director Nicholas Granger stated that the U.S. Administration continues its work, in coordination with the international community, Turkey and other regional powers, to consolidate stability and end the Syrian crisis.

He also stressed the U.S. commitment to supporting the Syrian people and advancing the political process, as well as forming a unified government that represents all Syrian peoples and prevents the outbreak of conflicts, violence and pain in the future.

Granger declared that the U.S. is focused on preventing the return of the Islamic State (ISIS).

“The U.S. believes all Syrians have a vital role in shaping their country’s political and social future,” Granger added, indicating that expected interim authorities to actively support this transition and help re-establish a responsible national government that guarantees the rights of all ethnic components and stability of neighboring countries.
