Administration of North and East Syria celebrates 11th anniversary of founding

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) marked the 11th anniversary of its establishment on 21 January with a public statement celebrating its role as a safe haven for the region’s diverse communities over the past decade.

Reflecting on its achievements, the administration emphasized its commitment to fostering coexistence among the region’s ethnic and religious groups, including Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans), Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Yezidis, Christians, and Muslims. DAARNES highlighted its success in creating a sanctuary for hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals and maintaining a model of governance rooted in democracy and pluralism.

DAARNES also underscored its democratic project as a potential blueprint for resolving the broader Syrian conflict. It called on other regions in Syria to adopt this model as a pathway to achieving justice, security, and peace.

The statement paid tribute to the sacrifices of the people in North and East Syria, honoring the martyrs who fought for a homeland free from terror and grounded in equality and justice. DAARNES expressed its condemnation of Turkey’s ongoing military aggression, particularly in safe zones like Kobani, a city renowned for its resistance against terrorism.

In conclusion, the administration renewed its pledge to continue resisting oppression, promoting justice and equality, and further developing the autonomous governance system. DAARNES reaffirmed its commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future for all Syrians.
