Syrian Democratic Council hosts forum in The Hague to Promote Unity and Democracy in Syria

THE HAGUE — The Syrian Democratic Council’s (SDC) representation in the Netherlands hosted a forum on Sunday evening titled Syrian-Syrian Dialogue, aimed at advancing the vision of a democratic and pluralistic Syria. The event featured active participation from members of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) and prominent Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) figures within the Dutch community, fostering an open exchange of ideas on Syria’s future.

The forum served as a platform for participants to share perspectives on the country’s evolving political landscape in the wake of the Assad regime’s collapse. Over the course of four hours, representatives from various political and societal groups tackled critical issues and proposed potential paths forward.

Key discussions centered on the challenges of building a democratic state that truly represents Syria’s diverse population. Participants emphasized the importance of fostering national dialogue and collaboration among the country’s ethnic and religious groups. They identified unity as essential to counteract political divisions, external interference, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The forum concluded with practical recommendations, including bolstering cooperation among Syria’s democratic forces, unifying international efforts to support the political process, and addressing the dire humanitarian needs of the Syrian people.

Participants underscored the importance of inclusive political representation, ensuring that all of Syria’s communities have a say in shaping the country’s future. This inclusive approach, they argued, is key to achieving a just and lasting resolution to Syria’s ongoing crisis.\
