Syriac Union Party engages in dialogue with Suwayda leaders on Syria’s future

SUWAYDA, Syria — The Syriac Union Party (SUP) delegation conducted a series of meetings in Suwayda to discuss common visions for Syria’s future with key local figures.

The delegation, comprising SUP Co-Chair Sanharib Barsom, Relations Committee Representative Nazira Goreya, and member Malek Asmar, met with Druze Spiritual Leader Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, Political Committee Official of Suwayda Mobilization Rifaat Zainuddin, as well as Coordinator of the Secular Democratic Syrian Rally in Suwayda Samir Azzam, and Commander of Al-Jabal Brigade Shakib Azzam, alongside his team and other influential public figures.

The meetings focused on the latest developments in Syria, shared goals for national unity, and pathways to a collective solution that unites all Syrians. The SUP delegation shared an overview of the party’s history, ongoing efforts, and its role in advocating for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people during the Syrian Uprising and the nation-building process.

The SUP underscored the importance of communication among Syria’s diverse ethnic components and the need for constructive dialogue to forge a shared vision for the future. Discussions highlighted the necessity of establishing the rights of all ethnic groups, overcoming the legacy of the former regime’s suppression of freedoms, and ensuring a safe, peaceful, and dignified life for all citizens.

The meetings reaffirmed the commitment to pluralism, national unity, and the active participation of all Syrians in shaping a democratic and inclusive future.
