Syriac Progressive Youth Union launches Protection Committee to bolster security in North and East Syria

North and East Syria — In response to escalating security concerns across the country, the Syriac Progressive Youth Unio announced the formation of a new Protection Committee in collaboration with the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro). The initiative aims to enhance safety and stability across key neighborhoods in the region.

A Unified Effort for Community Protection

The newly formed committee is tasked with safeguarding churches, Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) institutions, and ensuring the security of all communities in the area. Operating closely with Sutoro, the committee will focus on strengthening security infrastructure and fostering a sense of stability.

So far, the Protection Committee has established branches in Zalin (Qamishli) and Hasakah. Members will patrol streets, man joint checkpoints, and work alongside Sutoro forces to reinforce security measures.

Community-Centric Security Solutions

By integrating community-based initiatives with established security forces, the committee aims to address the unique challenges facing the region. A spokesperson for the Syriac Progressive Youth Union reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peace and safety for all residents.

The formation of this committee underscores the urgency of tackling security concerns in North and East Syria. It reflects a collaborative approach to protecting the region’s diverse communities and fostering a safer environment amid ongoing instability.
