Former US-led International Coalition Spokesperson Myles Caggins: US should establish peace in Syria and stop Turkish attacks
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Trump Administration has an opportunity to develop a strong partnership with the Syrian de facto government and put pressure on Turkey to stop attacks, for example the attacks on the Tishreen Dam in northern Syria, stated Senior Fellow at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy and former spokesperson for the US-led International Coalition Myles Caggins, stated in an interview with North Press Agency.
Caggins stressed the importance of initiating discussions among the US, Syria, Turkey, and the European Union to promote peace across Syria. He highlighted the need for dialogue on the Kurdish issue, describing the current time as particularly suitable for such conversations.
Caggins criticized Turkey’s repeated military actions against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in recent years. He accused Turkish forces of causing civilian deaths and extensive damage to infrastructure during these operations.
He noted that the US military continues its collaboration with the SDF in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).
“I expect that members of the US Congress and House of Representatives will continue to provide funding for US military operations in Syria and Iraq,” he added.
