President of Beth Nahrin National Council: Unity essential for securing national rights
BETH NAHRIN — During his annual address, aired on Suroyo TV at the beginning of January, President of the Beth Nahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) Michael Naim Hadodo emphasized the necessity of inclusive governance in Syria to honor its demographic diversity. He called for new government structures to respect the rights of all communities to foster a just and equitable state.
Reflecting on Syria’s past, Hadodo highlighted the detrimental effects of over five decades of Baath Party rule, citing political repression and stagnation. He urged Syrians to learn from these experiences and embrace change to achieve political and social progress.
Hadodo argued that Syria’s diverse demographic makeup demands a departure from unilateral governance models. He advocated for policies that recognize the rights of all ethnic and religious groups, warning that continued denial of these rights is unsustainable as the country seeks a new future.
Unity Essential for Securing National Rights
Calling for collective action, Hadodo urged the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people to overcome internal divisions and unite in pursuit of their legitimate rights. He lamented past losses caused by fragmentation and emphasized the importance of seizing present opportunities to build a shared future.
Hadodo criticized previous regimes for failing to deliver meaningful gains for the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, despite acknowledging their historical significance. He stressed the urgency of securing rights for the community in Syria’s next phase of development.
Hadodo clarified that while the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people respect Islam and Muslims, they reject the imposition of Sharia law in Syria’s constitution and legal systems. He affirmed that such measures are unacceptable under any circumstances.
Hadodo reiterated the importance of unity among the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and other Christian communities. He emphasized that collective effort is essential to secure their rightful place in a new, inclusive Syria and to ensure their rights and contributions are fully recognized.
