Syriac Union Party advocates for unified vision and inclusivity in Syria’s transitional phase

ZALIN, North and East Syria — A delegation from the Syriac Union Party (SUP) held discussions with various democratic forces in Daramsuq (Damascus) and Al-Suwayda, emphasizing a collective vision for Syria’s future. SUP Co-Chair Sanharib Barsom highlighted the urgency of expediting the transitional process and ensuring inclusivity as all parties reject unilateral governance.

During their engagements in Daramsuq, the SUP delegation met with key political groups, including some that had previously operated abroad but have now returned to participate in Syria’s evolving political landscape. Barsom noted that Daramsuq has become the epicenter of political activity in the country, providing an opportunity to strengthen the party’s presence and influence across Syria.

In addition to political meetings, the delegation also connected with religious leaders from various Churches, reinforcing the importance of uniting Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and Christian communities during this critical period. Barsoum described these discussions as vital for building a cohesive vision among all components of Syrian society.

For the first time, the SUP engaged in dialogue with several significant democratic political forces and parties in Daramsuq. These inaugural meetings were deemed pivotal for fostering mutual understanding and collaboration, with Barsom emphasizing the value of exchanging perspectives to shape a more inclusive and representative future for Syria.

Barsom reiterated the collective commitment to a unified vision for Syria, stressing the need for a national conference that genuinely reflects the voices of all stakeholders. Such a conference, he explained, would pave the way for the transitional phase, ensuring fairness and inclusivity in decision-making processes.
